This is a list of tricks & behaviours that I recommend for Dog Actors

This is not to say that your dog needs to know all this to work on a shoot.  Essentially the only things your dog needs to know for any given job are the behaviors required for that job.

However the more your pet knows the more jobs they can be submitted for (and possibly cast for)!

BASICS (in brackets I’ve put studio trainers often call the behavior but you can call it whatever you like)

-Sit
-Down
-Stand (“On Your Feet”)
-Head Down/Up
-Roll Onto Side (“On Your Side”)
-Stay on a mark
-Come to a mark
-Go to a mark
-Leash manners (with a stranger walking them)
-Walking with a stranger off leash (“Go With”)
-Pick up an object
-Hold an object in their mouth
-Back up

TRICKS (in brackets I’ve put what studio trainers often call the behavior but you can call it whatever you like)

-Bark on cue (“Speak”)
-Shake a Paw (“Paw” or “Foot”)
-Touch something with paw (“Foot It”)
-Beg
-Spin in a circle, both directions
-Eye Cover
-Lower head on cue, while sitting/standing
-Jump up & down in one spot
-Stand on hind legs
-Jump into arms
